This slight stretch of road, about 30 kilometres from Leh, is notable for its defiance of gravity. This road, which is part of the Leh-Kargil Highway, attracts stationary vehicles upwards. When the engine is turned off, a car can roll up this hill at a speed of 20km/hr. This amazing phenomenon has given rise to numerous names for the area, including “Mystery Hill” and “Gravity Hill”. The Sindhu river runs on the eastern side of this hill, which is 14,000 feet above sea level.

While this road is open all year, the best months to visit Magnetic Hill are from July to October. The roads are clear during this time, so the drive will be easy, and one will have the opportunity to explore Ladakh and its beauty.

According to locals and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel, helicopters and aircraft passing through the area must fly at a higher speed to avoid the magnetic impact of the Magnetic Hill. When the aircraft approaches Magnetic Hill's radius, it begins to jerk. In fact, Indian Air Force pilots always avoid the Magnetic Hill.

Authorities have placed a signboard in the area indicating the exact location of this phenomenon. A yellow box painted on the road marks the precise location where the car should be parked in neutral. It can be seen slowly climbing the hill from there.
