A must-see sight in the Malappuram area is Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, a picturesque stretch spanning a cluster of tiny islands. It is situated in a key area where the river Kadalundi and the Arabian Sea converge before flowing into the ocean. The sanctuary is located in the lovely hamlet of Kadalundi, which is easily reached by road. <h3>01. Karinthandan Temple</h3>Tree Chain Wayanad is situated alongside NH-212, close to the Lakkidi viewpoint. Large Ficus tree enclosed by a substantial chain. The Chain has a mythological origin story.&nbsp;Local Wayanad Adivasis used a hidden way from Lakkidi to Adivaram (Hill base) during British colonial authority. The passage through the Ghats was discovered by an English engineer with the assistance of a local chieftain by the name of Karinthandan. When he discovered the path, he assassinated Karinthandan to claim credit for discovering it. Later, the ghost of Karinthandan plagued those who travelled along the new road. A priest then summoned this ghost into a chain and fastened it to a little tree out of local curiosity.
