About the Roopkund Trek:

  • Roopkund Trek is also known as the Skeleton Trek cause it leads us to the Roopkund Lake, the famous glacier lake in the state of Uttarakhand, this 'mystery lake' is well-known for having around 500 human skeletons around its bank. Nothing can be more exotic or thrilling than visiting this lake located at the base of two Himalayan peaks, Trishul and Nandghunti while trekking through the evergreen beauty of the Himalayas.
  • Roopkund Trek is another gem for trekkers residing in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, one of the most beautiful places. A high-altitude glacier hike in the Trishul massif in the state of Uttrakhand in northern India at the height of 15,696 ft makes it the most perfect adventure in the Himalayas. Roopkund Trekking Trail is also famous for Nanda Devi Raj Jat celebration held in Roopkund every twelve years where Goddess Nanda Devi is worshipped. 


About the Roopkund Trek from Kathgodam :

  • We will begin our amazing journey from Kathgodham and travel to Lohajung by a scenic drive covering 210KM and a complete visual delight for about 10 hours.
  • Next day our trekking adventure begins as we trek to Didna Village. With the company of Neel ganga and small streams we will eventually reach Kulling and some more trekking takes us to Dinda from there. 
  • Today we will be making our way to one of the most beautiful destination, Ali Bugyal, which is one of the highest inhabitant zones of our country at the height of 11,000ft located in the beautiful Himalyan meadows and with glimpses of Trishul and Mrigthuni peak.
  • The next morning, we will leave the site and trek to Ghora Lotani, the ideal destination for all trekkers, which has great views from all sides. Our trail will be consisting of the picturesque spots as we keep climbing higher into our adventure.
  • The next day's destination is Bhagwabasa, it will be quite a long day but our day will be packed with wonders as we will visit Kalyuvinayak Temple on our way giving us the best views of Roopkund lake with the majestic Trishul mountain as backdrop.
  • After the delicious breakfast, we will trek to the most awaited destination, Roopkund Lake, which has 300 skeletons of a king and his villagers that are visible in the lake if not frozen. The trek route is amazingly beautiful.
  • The last trek is here and we will descend to Patar Nachauni, we will have a long day ahead of us today till we make it Lohajung and get to observe new culture and in the lps of stunning nture till we reach Village of Wan and get on a drive to Lohajung from there.
  • The final day of our trek as we end it the same way begun it, on a scenic drive of 10 hours that will take us back to Kotgodham and conclude our enchanting journey.

Know before you go to Roopkund Trek, Uttarakhand:

  • Participants with liver or kidney issues should be careful.
  • Participants must pay attention to the guidelines given by the guide during the trek.
  • Avoid consuming heavy food or alcoholic beverages.
  • Drink efficient water and walk slowly, no need to rush.

  • Carry enough winter garments as well as hiking gear such as hiking boots, backpacks, neck warmers, etc.
  • If participants feel unwell at any moment they should contact the guide and not avoid or push themselves. 
  • To protect the ecological stability of our travel places avoid plastic bags and do not pollute the campsites or nearby sites.
  • Mobile connection and computer charging points may or may not be available on all campsites at all times.
  • Bring enough water and snacks to keep yourself hydrated and full throughout the trek.
  • Carry minimum luggage, the more you have, the more trouble.
