About the Kamalgad Fort:

  • Kamalgad Fort is a square hill fort in the Sahyadri range in Maharashtra. Bhelanja and Kattalgad are other names for Kamalgad, the latter of which means "death fort." Tupenwadi is the fort's headquarters. The Kamalgad fort is located in the Wai taluka of Maharashtra's Pune District.
  • The Fort is located 4511 feet above sea level and is an easy grade level climb. This Fort attracts trekkers from Panchgani, Satara, Mumbai, and other locations.


About the Kamalgad fort trek:

  • From the base settlement, the trek begins within steep rock,the trail is safe and tree-lined and it takes around two hours to reach Machi.
  • The Balekilla, that requires around 20 minutes from Machi which is described as a 30 to 40 foot scrap towering above the jungle.
  • It is best to visit the Fort starting in October as it is surrounded with beautiful green plains around the route greet you during the monsoon season, which is also a popular period to visit the Fort.
  • The Fort was built on a four-acre flat plot of land and it is surrounded by steep cliffs and can only be reached by dangerously ascending this hill. 
  • This trek route leads to Kamal Machi, a large open area which is completely covered with deep forest. 
  • Breakfast and lunch will be served among the beautiful views of the base village.
